Lantz Wheeler's
Ground Force Velocity Program
Close your eyes and visualize swaying back and forth in a hammock.
If you’ve ever laid in a hammock, the toughest part is getting inside, right? Once you’ve made the initial step and are resting, there’s no fear of falling. It’s 100% chill time. There’s no tension in your body, it’s a complete state of relaxation. But, what if?
If one side of the hammock isn’t securely anchored, what happens? Suddenly your body goes into panic, attempting to re-organize itself. You get stiff and panic begins to set in because of your body’s innate fear of falling.
And the same principle applies inside the rotational sport of baseball.
Baseball is a rotational sport. And it’s your ability to efficiently move through the center of your body that separates 85 mph from 95 mph. But?
Most guys can only dream of throwing the baseball 95 mph because they spend most of their time jumping around from drill to drill and pitching coach to pitching coach working on the wrong things.
And it’s reflected inside their movement patterns. (Pitching mechanics)
Truth is?
99% of all mechanical flaws I see with amateur pitchers can be traced back to the eyes or the feet.
So, why aren’t pitching coaches starting with the eyes and the feet when talking pitching mechanics?
Why do we spend so much time focusing on focusing on attempting to increase hip/shoulder separation when most players aren’t able to stabilize a fixed point for rotation to begin with?
The center of your body is ground zero for human movement.
There’s not a single move you could make in this game that doesn’t originate from the middle of your body.
Your hips control your…
But, beware because this goes against everything you’ve ever read, seen or said about energy transfer.
Energy doesn’t start from the ground up!
Yep, sorry to break it to you but that’s a myth.
The only way to create ground force is by driving into the ground and try driving force into the ground without engaging, dropping or hinging at your hips.
Impossible.
– Ground force production and energy transfer originates with middle of your body moving down.
– And the energy created by this move then rebounds or redirects back up through the kinetic chain from your feet up to your fingertips.
And that’s what this Ground Force Velocity program is all about.
How to apply energy into the ground to rebound through the kinetic chain, through the fingertips, and into the baseball.
