Problem #1:  Your son has no idea what he's supposed to FEEL with his lower-half.

Because he's only told to use his legs but never taught how to use them, he has no idea what he's supposed to feel.

That explains why he can't use his lower-half effectively and finds it impossible to fix it on his own, since he can't feel what he needs to do.  After all, it's impossible to fix something you can't FEEL. 

Problem #2:  Every coach tells him something different.

Because your son can't FEEL what he needs to do he finds himself asking for help and relying on the next pitching coach to solve his problems for him, since he can't do it himself.  

But, every coach tells him something different and that's never going to change until he can FEEL what he needs to fix. 

Problem #3:  Looks great in practice but totally different in the game. 

He can't translate his practice or bullpen results to the game mound.  He might look sharp next to the coach in practice - But once the game starts, and he's forced to coach himself, it's a different story. 

Problem #4: He can't throw strikes when he tries to throw hard.

He's forced to choose between velocity and command, and that's not even close to being true.

The worst part about this is he finds himself in a Catch-22: 

If he doesn't throw hard, he won't get noticed. 

But if he doesn't throw strikes, he won't get to pitch. 

So, he's caught in the middle - and now his back's against the wall, and he feels like he's running out of time, so that adds to the pressure becuase he feels like he had better hurry up before it's too late.

Problem #5: His velocity has been stuck at the same speed, forever. 

And I bet it's in the low to mid 80's because that's the case for every pitcher who has a faulty first move.  It doesn't matter what he tries or how hard he works... nothing changes.  

He throws harder on flat ground than the mound. 

He's bigger, stronger and can long toss further, but none of his strength or velo gains translate to higher velocity on the mound.  

Nothing makes sense.  And nothing's working.
